You’ve probably noticed that “tinny” sound most home movies have, and the way the background sounds overwhelm the main subject. That happens when you rely solely on the built-in microphone of your video camera. It isn’t picky about what it hears, and the louder the source, whatever that is, the more it will be the main thing you hear. Plus your hands handling the camera, or the wind outside can create a lot of noise. Try taping a speaker on stage while diners around you are clinking forks and knives on dinner plates and you’ll know what I mean.

You’ve seen many videos out there that have sound issues and you may have clicked off because of that. To make sure your audio won’t turn a viewer off and leave your video you need better audio.

For better sound you need to add external microphones. The two types of microphones you need to consider purchasing are lavalier and shotgun microphones. They each have their purposes.

Lavalier microphones are placed on the “talent” and give a sense of presence. They will make a 200% improvement in the sound of the person speaking over a built-in mic. They can be wired or wireless. These are the mics you see clipped to the shirts of people being interviewed on television. These mics don’t have to be expensive: you can buy a simple lavalier mic at Radio Shack for $26.49 online. Even at this price, it is much better than your built-in mic.

Shotgun microphones can be used on the camera, on a boom pole or a mic stand. Contrary to what many people think, a shotgun mic does not amplify or reach out to get the sound in front of it. It works by ignoring the sounds to the side and behind it, to varying degrees depending on the design. These work great when you need to isolate a speaker or actor but cannot use a lavalier mic. You can spend thousands of dollars on a top end pro model, but good quality can be had in the $200 – $500 range.

To set yourself above the pack in your online videos, you need to have great audio. As any videographer will tell you, sound is half the picture and it is not that hard to get good sound quality.

You have probably heard a lot about pressure cookers, and perhaps even wondered what they are and how they differ from other small kitchen appliances. A pressure cooker is a pot with a lockable lid that has the ability to quickly cook foods. Food ingredients are placed into the pressure cooker pot along with water, and as the water boils – steam builds up and it creates an intense pressure that cooks food faster than traditional methods. You can cook just about anything in a pressure cooker, from meats, to vegetables and stews as well.

There’s so much to consider when purchasing a pressure cooker, we’ve compiled a list of some of the more important things to look for in a new pressure cooker:

1. Electric vs Stove top: The first thing you will need to decide is whether you want an electric pressure cooker or a stove top cooker. Surprisingly, stove top cookers are considered the better choice between the two. Electric models are typically fitted with pot inserts made with aluminum. This makes it harder to brown certain ingredients. Also, the aluminum material may also react to certain acidic ingredients causing them to be a little off in their flavor.

2. Safety Features: Safety features are going to be especially important for this type of appliance. Pressure cookers build up an intense amount of pressure and steam which can cause an explosion in the kitchen. If you have children in the home, you will want a pot that comes with secure lid locks, pressure indicators and release valves.

3. Size and Capacity: You can find pressure cookers that can hold more than 40 quarts, but do you really need all of that? Probably not. Don’t underestimate your size and don’t overestimate it either. You can find cookers that are sauce pan style, which is perfect for your side dishes and vegetables, there are also large stock pot styles for family meals.

4. Stainless Steel or Aluminum?: As mentioned earlier, the aluminum materials used in fitted inserts can clash with acidic ingredients, causing them to have a flavor different than you may have intended. If you are going to make the investment into a quality cooker, opt for the stainless steel models.

Pressure cookers can really be a lifesaver for the busy family, they will also help save you a ton of money.

When you buy an LCD TV today, you are probably going to want to answer some questions beforehand. Because it is such a big investment, you need to understand what you are looking at. How long will these things last? Is it really worth spending all of that money? These are important concerns, and you need to address them before you open up the wallet.

Any review of LCD TVs can not be complete unless you talk about their durability. These are machines that are highly durable, as long as you take good care of them. They don’t burn out quickly and they hold their good form for years. Likewise, you will need to discuss the size that you want. LCD televisions come in a big range of sizes. They are anywhere from 17 inches to 70 inches on today’s market.

Lots of people will talk size when they look at LCD televisions, but the smart buyers will be talking resolution, too. Many of the best LCD TV’s out there today are offering 1366 X 768 resolution. That is tops in the TV market today and it is absolutely necessary. This is solid for the consumers who love their HD television, and it’s as good as the technology gets today.

When people discuss the difference between a plasma TV and some of the best LCD TV’s on the market, they will always talk about burn-in. This is one of the problems with plasma televisions, in that past images are left in the display. This is especially true with numbers on the screen, and it is not a problem if you have an LCD TV.

One of the buzzwords for the television industry today is 1080p. People want to know if their new LCD television is going to feature 1080p display, and it really is important. If you want to be able to enjoy HD DVDs or any of the new technology, then you will have to have a television to match. Some of the best LCD televisions today are providing this.

Another chief concern for any consumer has to be how long the televisions will last. We mentioned their durability, but what does this really mean. How long can you expect to own an LCD TV? That is a question that is better answered on an individual basis, but you can reasonably expect LCD TVs to hold their form for five years. In some cases, they can last up to ten years.

When you go out looking for LCD televisions, you have to be sure to think about what sort of new technologies are on the way. Right now, the newest thing is technology to avoid blurring. The new LCD TV’s are making it so that you don’t have to watch blurry action shots and sports fans are especially enjoying this new change.

There is a wealth of LCD TVs out on the market today and they are getting better. The vast number of features and the incredible display possibilities make it a must for any person who wants to enjoy television. An LCD TV is a good investment on many fronts.
