LCD Vs LED
Entering 2009, the word “LED” emergences more and more frequent in front of us. Earlier this year, on the CES exhibition in United States, Samsung showed us a LED TV with the degree of only 6.5mm thin which is rated the world’s thinnest television. Then all the LED products rushed into the consumer electronics market, lots of manufacturers develop LED products fro a better sale. Besides most international brand gradually keep their focuses on this field. As a matter of fact, more and more electronic gadgets applied the LED or LCD technology to some extent such as MP3 Player, Mobile Phones Digital Camera, Notebook, and Projector, etc. well, the LED is on its way, is LDC on the contrary no more useful?
Which one is to get the top place? Here are some advantages and disadvantages of those two, why not make the right decision yourself! Compared with the LCD, LED have great advantages on brightness, consumption, and refresh rate, etc. it support a wide vision up to 160°angle and could display a variety of text, numbers and animation information, at the same time broadcast television, video, VCD, DVD and other color video signals. The LED technology widens the range of application for a thinner, brighter, clearer display. On the contrary, LCD is more frequently applied to outdoor large screen display for its lower resolution.
Talking about the cost, LCD is a little bit expensive in that the technology, materials and equipment applied were imported, and the liquid crystal display indeed smaller injury than the LED. Anyway, both of them have their respective pros and cons. It depend on your own requirement, what about your choice?

Voltage Converters – Why Do We Need Voltage Converters ?
Commonly the word Voltage Converter is the name which is given to the device which acts as a switch which is in one location to control the voltage of gadgets which are in another location through power outlets. In the whole world most of the electrical outlets which produce alternating current with single phase will supply the voltage at 100 to 125 volts or 210 to 230 volts. The use of the Voltage converters is that they convert the voltage from 110 volts to 220 volts and 220 volts to 110 volts. Both the operations also can be done by some voltage converters.
The voltage converters are usually always sold with the with the plug at the end. Physical compatibility is also provided with the plugs as well.
Many methods are available for converting the voltage. A transformer is used to decrease or increase the voltage for alternating current. The voltage converters which will be used for small electronic gadgets will normally have a transformer will drop the smaller voltages such as to 4.5 volts to 12 volts. It will create a full wave rectifier which converts the alternating currents to the DC (direct current). Flattening the wave will be done by few additional components. Few components will contain only a transformer in the power supply which is external. That power supply will be with additional power in the gadget or a rectifier.
The voltage converters, which are sold for the usage in cars, have the DC outlets of 12 volts. The voltage converters don’t necessarily come with transformer. Many a times, instead of a transformer, Zener diode is used, in order to bring down the DC voltage with huge loss of power. For the conversion of the alternating current the conversion of a low DC voltage to high voltage is required. Transformer usage is done for the increase in voltage. For the conversion of DC from AC, a conditioning circuit and a rectifier is used.
Two types of voltage transformers are available, namely the step up and step down voltage transformers. The conversion of a step up transformer is from 110 volts to 230 volts. The conversion of a step down transformer is from 230 volts to 110 volts. Many transformers will convert either ways. Voltage converters and transformers.
Throughout the world, voltage differs from country to country. The voltage level is either 220 volts or 110 volts. Plug sizes, plug holes and plug shapes also differ from country to country. Few countries such as in Canada and USA have the voltage of 120 volt with the frequency 60 Hz, while the others have the frequency of 50 Hz and the voltage of 220/240 volt. By using an appropriate voltage converter, this difference in voltages can be solved.

Power Up! How to Extend the Life of Your Batteries
“Batteries not included” – the nightmare with new toys and gadgets. Batteries are used for just about everything, from our children’s noisy toys, to our cell phones and laptops. Finding the right battery for the job is only the first step. Once you have the battery, you will want to extend the battery life as long as possible.
What can you do to help save some run time on your batteries?
The most important step is to buy fresh batteries. Like other items with a shelf-life, batteries will keep longer if they are newer. The easiest way to find new batteries is to shop a store that sells a lot of batteries – this means the turnover will be high, and new items will be on the shelf constantly.
Keep the “FIFO” method of stocking shelves in mind also; first in, first out. Look for packages on the back of the display and see if it is newer by checking the dates. Stores try to sell the oldest merchandise first, so ideally the new merchandise should be the least convenient – depending on the associates of course.
Once you have the batteries at home, put them in a sealed plastic bag, and store them in the refrigerator. This will extend the life of your batteries, just make sure to let them sit out to room temperature before using.
Purchasing zinc-carbon batteries for items that have a low draw (think clocks/calculators) to make them last, and alkaline batteries for high draw items (radios/cameras) will give you more bang for the buck. The appropriate battery for the task will ensure it will last as long as possible.
Never mix old batteries with new batteries. The new ones may actually cause the older batteries to leak battery acid in the competition to keep up. This can potentially cause burns, as well as destroying the equipment it is in.
When using rechargeable batteries, make sure to charge them the entire length of time recommended before using the item. It may be tempting to turn your cell phone on before the time is up, but holding off for those few hours can extend the life of the battery – and it is an expensive item to replace later on.
For items that are turned on almost constantly, such as your laptop, there are simple things you can do to reduce the pull on your computer’s battery. Keep your computer defragged so it runs quicker (and easier on your battery), keep your screen dim, and turn off programs when you are finished running them.
Keep your work on a laptop to a streamlined minimum to finish tasks at hand. By leaving email open, with a spread sheet, while listening to music, you are draining the battery quickly.
It is recommended that if you have a rechargeable battery (such as a cell phone or laptop) that you let it run itself down at least once a month. This allows the battery to go through a complete charge cycle. Once you have allowed it to charge fully, then you can keep it maintained.
With so many expenses related to owning electronics, maintaining your batteries is a sure-fire way to save money. This is one of the best ways to keep your electronics running smoothly and preventing headaches for you!
