LCD Vs LED

Entering 2009, the word “LED” emergences more and more frequent in front of us. Earlier this year, on the CES exhibition in United States, Samsung showed us a LED TV with the degree of only 6.5mm thin which is rated the world’s thinnest television. Then all the LED products rushed into the consumer electronics market, lots of manufacturers develop LED products fro a better sale. Besides most international brand gradually keep their focuses on this field. As a matter of fact, more and more electronic gadgets applied the LED or LCD technology to some extent such as MP3 Player, Mobile Phones Digital Camera, Notebook, and Projector, etc. well, the LED is on its way, is LDC on the contrary no more useful?

Which one is to get the top place? Here are some advantages and disadvantages of those two, why not make the right decision yourself! Compared with the LCD, LED have great advantages on brightness, consumption, and refresh rate, etc. it support a wide vision up to 160°angle and could display a variety of text, numbers and animation information, at the same time broadcast television, video, VCD, DVD and other color video signals. The LED technology widens the range of application for a thinner, brighter, clearer display. On the contrary, LCD is more frequently applied to outdoor large screen display for its lower resolution.

Talking about the cost, LCD is a little bit expensive in that the technology, materials and equipment applied were imported, and the liquid crystal display indeed smaller injury than the LED. Anyway, both of them have their respective pros and cons. It depend on your own requirement, what about your choice?

How to Buy Cheap TVs Without Any Risk

Usually, people think that buying cheap TVs bear great risk. It is true that most of the cheap televisions are as good as a piece of junk. However, there are ways to buy inexpensive TVs without compromising on their quality or performance. Here are a few tips as to how you can buy cheap TVs without any risk at all.

  • At the outset, finalise how much you are prepared to pay for the television that you wish to buy. This price budget will be your guide for the decision on the type of television you can purchase. If your budget is not very high, you will have to be content with a conventional picture tube television, known as CRT technology. If your purse is quite large, you may consider a plasma TV. On the other hand, an intermediate budget will easily get you an LCD TV.
  • The second point is the size of the television. This will also depend on your budget but most of the time another hundred more pounds might get you a 29″ television, compared to a 21″ one.
  • Next, you have to compare various brands and models to get cheap TVs. This is not an easy task and requires lot of patience. For example, in the 21″ CRT TV category, companies like LG and Samsung offer at least 8 to 10 models each, with minor variations in features. What is the use of paying another hundred pounds more for a 300 watts sound output, compared to a 200 watts sound output? In real time, you will not find much difference between them, unless you are going to spend most of your time listening to music. A good music system will be sufficient for that and there is no point in wasting money in a television for this. Comparing the features is a fundamental secret in getting cheap TVs.
  • Do not allow yourself to be led astray by fancy terms like HDTV. If you sit more than six feet away, the picture quality of a HDTV will be more or less the same as that of the traditional CRT TV. The few hundred dollars that HDTV costs extra is not worth the small difference in output quality, unless you are going in for large screen TVs. A 40″ HDTV quality will be much superior compared to that of a 40″ CRT TV. However, in a 29″, you will never be able to find much difference. This is an important factor when you want to buy cheap TVs.

As such, purchasing cheap TVs is not as difficult as you might think. It is easily possible to get a good television at a lower cost, if you have enough patience and choose your model carefully. The alternatives offered by the various manufacturers are quite large today. Due to high competition, they had been forced to provide a wide range with a fair amount of price options. What is needed is careful consideration and comparison.

HDTV Shopping Tips – Buyer Beware!

So, you’re looking for a brand new High Definition Television?

Before we get started, let’s talk about what an HDTV is.

Essentially an high definition television set is the latest in TV technology which offers much higher image clarity than the older TVs. In order to take advantage of the higher resolutions you will need to receive an HD signal (or at the very least a digital signal… which is pretty much a basic service now a days).

When going out to evaluate a new TV make sure that you truly understand the various resolutions and whether or not you really need it. For some getting the highest quality picture is a must, while for others just being able to watch regular TV is enough… Also, when going to your local outlet, make sure they accurately demo the true quality of the HD by having them tune in an HD signal to their TVs. Because the only way to truly evaluate the difference (and to appreciate high definition) between the TVs is to see all the models next to each other using the same “feed.”

Hopefully this isn’t too confusing…

Ok, so we’ve talked about resolution, but what does it mean?

Well, the HDTVs currently come in a variety of flavors from 720 to 1080 (there are lower resolutions but you really shouldn’t consider anything less than 720 and really no less than 1080 if you want great quality picture). Each of these resolutions come in an “i” and a “p” variety (in other words, you have 1080i and 1080p, and the same goes for 720 resolutions).

If you are only watching regular HD TV (broadcasts), 1080i is the highest resolution that you can get. However, 1080p is the highest resolution you can get on a TV currently. Since regular broadcast TV only take advantage of 1080i there’s really no need to invest in 1080p; unless you plan on purchasing a Blu Ray disc player (which takes advantage of the latest technology), plan on playing some of the latest video games on playstation / xbox and want to take advantage of the highest resolution available, or just have some money to blow and want to show off to your friends.

While there are other areas that can make a difference in terms of your image quality such as: contrast ration, screen (glossy or non-glare), brightness and other control features; the resolution is key to image quality as the difference between a regular non-HDTV and a 1080 resolution TV is a factor of six. In other words a 1080p HDTV has 6 times better image clarity than a regular television set.

This is by no means an exhaustive list of things you should know about before investing your hard earned money on a new HD TV set. Make sure you educate yourself and evaluate the various brands. There are the top brands such as Sony and Samsung and 2nd and 3rd tier brands as well. And while the specs look similar there can be a wide disparity between each television set. So buyer beware!
